India’s Squad for the test against England
Who is Dhruv Jurel ?
Dhruv Jurel, a 22-year-old cricketer, has earned his first call-up as a backup wicketkeeper. This happened because Ishan Kishan took a break due to mental fatigue.
Injury Update: Mohammed Shami, a veteran fast bowler, is not in the squad due to an ankle injury he suffered during the 2023 ODI World Cup. The selectors decided to give him more rest as a precaution.
Injury to Prasidh Krishna: Another fast bowler, Prasidh Krishna, is also not in the squad due to a quadriceps injury he picked up during a Ranji Trophy match.
Avesh Khan Retained: Avesh Khan has retained his place in the squad after his good performance for India A during the South Africa tour. He joins a strong pace attack with Bumrah, Siraj, and Mukesh Kumar.
Spin Combination: The spin department includes Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav.
Surprise Addition: Jurel is a surprise addition as a backup wicketkeeper to KL Rahul and KS Bharat. Jurel has been in good form, scoring runs in domestic cricket.
World Test Championship Cycle: This series against England is India’s third assignment in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle and the first at home. They won in West Indies and drew against South Africa earlier.
